DOCUMENTED LIFE
From junior events to another height
Duplantis won the world U20 and European titles in 2018, clearing 6.05 metres in Berlin at eighteen. He set a 6.17-metre world record in Toruń in 2020 and raised it to 6.18 in Glasgow days later. Olympic gold came in Tokyo in 2021 and Paris in 2024. World Athletics lists 6.31 metres on 12 March 2026 as a world record. The figures changed while the task remained concrete: approach, pole, take-off and clearance had to connect again. An earlier height supplied a reference, not a completed action for the next attempt.
TRADITIONAL INTERPRETATION
What supports a visible moment
The reference for 10 November 1999 is 己卯, 乙亥 and 丙寅. 丙 fire evokes a visible moment, wood imagery growth, and 亥 water movement. What continuous preparation supports a high point everyone sees? Wood and fire determine neither bodily ability nor a record ceiling.
己 earth returns attention to the ground and working conditions. Equipment, training and competition settings cannot be omitted in favour of a talent label. His hour is unverified, and achieved results provide no guarantee about another attempt.
EDITORIAL REFLECTION
A record cannot make the next jump
A record condenses the past into a number, while an athlete continues handling the present. Recognising those different times gives repeated practice its due. The more conspicuous a height becomes, the more useful it is to see the steps still beginning again. That work keeps a statistic connected to performance.
