DOCUMENTED LIFE
A defeat between victories
The Clinton Presidential Library records his election as Arkansas governor in 1978, defeat in 1980 and return in 1982. He won the presidential election in 1992. The later result does not erase the interruption in his governorship.[1]
TRADITIONAL INTERPRETATION
Yi Wood and Shen Metal: a purpose meeting rules again
The reference is 丙戌, 丙申, 乙丑. Yi Wood’s growth beside Shen Metal’s rules frames a purpose obtaining conditions again after defeat; repeated Bing Fire introduces public expression. The hour is unknown. Wood and Fire predict no votes, and a later victory does not verify a predetermined ending.
A political return depends on voters accepting a purpose again. Wood and Metal can ask how demands and responses change, without making resilience the entire explanation. A tenure list cannot supply specific campaign or policy changes. Governing outcomes also need independent assessment rather than an answer borrowed from a comeback story.
EDITORIAL REFLECTION
Returning needs more than determination
Repeated attempts do not automatically establish progress, and another electoral victory does not validate every earlier judgement. These dates keep defeat, return and enlarged responsibility distinct. What changed, what support was obtained and what trade-offs were made require further records. A slogan of persistence cannot explain that particular work.
