DOCUMENTED LIFE
Screen work and military time
Stewart studied architecture at Princeton but moved through theatre toward New York and film, signing with MGM in 1935. The Philadelphia Story in 1940 brought the 1941 leading actor Oscar; military service followed. He returned to screen work after the war with It's a Wonderful Life, then collaborated with directors including Hitchcock and Anthony Mann. An honorary Oscar came in 1985. Familiarity did not make every role alike: comedy, westerns and suspense demanded different rhythms, while military service and filmmaking also carried separate responsibilities.
TRADITIONAL INTERPRETATION
Growth accepting another setting
The reference for 20 May 1908 is 戊申, 丁巳 and 乙亥. 乙 wood evokes growth and adjustment, the 巳–亥 opposition changed settings, and 丁 fire attention to details. How can a familiar performance quality meet another character's pressure? The symbols establish neither private character nor an explanation of wartime experience.
申 metal's distinctions prompt separation of actor and character, image and record. His hour is unknown. A memorable everyman on screen cannot serve as complete evidence for the person beyond it, and no full structural judgement is offered.
EDITORIAL REFLECTION

Familiarity helps an audience approach a character; complexity gives that approach substance. Letting a known presence carry doubt and contradiction keeps it from becoming only a reassuring face. His career gains texture when read with directors and genres, showing how recognition was repeatedly put to another use.
