Lasha Bekauri: competing again after gold

Between Tokyo and Paris, a champion still met opponents one contest at a time.

DOCUMENTED LIFE

Junior competition and two Olympics

Georgia's National Parliamentary Library places Bekauri's development between junior and senior contests: junior world and European titles in the 90 kg category in 2019, a senior European title in Lisbon in 2021, then Olympic gold in Tokyo on 28 July that year. He won the Tbilisi Grand Slam in March 2024 and a second Olympic gold in Paris on 31 July. The International Judo Federation's reporting records changes during the final and his response to an opponent's actions. An existing title cannot fight the next contest on an athlete's behalf. New opponents, grips and timing continue to pose concrete problems.

TRADITIONAL INTERPRETATION

Growth within immediate adjustment

The reference for 26 July 2000 is 庚辰, 癸未 and 乙酉. 乙 wood suggests adjustment, metal judgement and 癸 water finer rhythm. How does a practised action find its place when an opponent changes the conditions? Symbols neither assess technique nor guarantee a defence.

The earth branches invite attention to accumulated work. His hour is unknown. A reversal in one contest cannot become a promise that he will always recover. Each outcome retains its practical uncertainty beyond a complete-chart claim.

EDITORIAL REFLECTION

Defending a title still takes a process

One task for a champion is to let a previous championship recede for a moment. The contest ahead needs observation rather than a repeated answer from a medal ceremony. His experience makes continued development concrete: even the same objective can demand fresh judgement when the conditions change.
