DOCUMENTED LIFE
Read the record with its units
World Athletics lists Johnson's 19.32 for 200m on August 1, 1996 and 43.18 for 400m on August 26, 1999. It also records 2:54.29 for the 4x 400m relay on August 22, 1993. That relay result belongs to a team, not an individual run.[1][2]
The federation's contemporary account identifies the Atlanta 200m and Seville 400m performances as world records at the time. That does not make each the current record. Nor does 'fast' fully describe two different distances. Their schedules, pacing and comparison conditions differ. Keeping those distinctions makes the achievement more concrete.
TRADITIONAL INTERPRETATION
Judgment with the conditions attached
For September 13, 1967, the date reference gives Ding-Wei, Ji-You and Geng-Chen. Geng and You metal suggest clear and fine comparisons; Ding fire evokes a publicly displayed result. Ji, Wei and Chen earth bring attention to the conditions that support a number.
How must an ability be reorganized when the task changes? His birth hour is unknown. These images cannot establish physiology or make a record inevitable; race records provide the evidence.
EDITORIAL REFLECTION
Define the task before comparing
Johnson's results invite a disciplined way of reading achievement: state the conditions before judging strength. One person can produce distinct outcomes across tasks, and a collective result still needs collective attribution. That respects the athlete and the competition together.
