Between evening study and public office
The French presidential biography records Doumer working as a messenger and engraver in youth, studying in evening classes and obtaining a mathematics degree in 1877 before teaching. He subsequently moved into journalism and politics.[1] This sequence makes it possible to examine abilities accumulating across different kinds of work. A modest beginning does not itself predict eventual high office.
He was elected President of France in 1931 and died after being shot in 1932.[1] The last two lines of a biography are brief, but they should not compress the entire life into ascent and tragedy. Study, changes of occupation and public responsibilities each deserve attention to their own circumstances.
TRADITIONAL INTERPRETATION
A disagreement comes before a symbolic conclusion
The library retains 22 March 1857 from its Wikidata record, while the Élysée page gives 23 March. Calculating the library date yields Ding-Si, Gui-Mao, Ji-You, but the underlying date is not reconciled. These cannot be presented as a settled birth structure. The two records remain visible while a more authoritative original birth record is sought. Life events should not be used to choose the more convenient day pillar.

Uncertainty belongs in the account
A narrative can have substance while acknowledging an unresolved basic record. Naming the discrepancy does not erase verified study and office dates. It keeps evidence, interpretation and unknowns in their proper places, allowing readers to distinguish what can be discussed from what should remain open.
