An instrument belongs to the expression too
Prince released his self-titled album in 1979. The custom Cloud guitar made for his appearance in Purple Rain in 1984 later became an object through which the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame presents his work. He was inducted in 2004. The museum describes music moving through synthesizer experiments, soul and jazz inflections. Records, film and an instrument provide different forms in which a recognizable creative world can appear.

Growth still needs an identifiable form
For 7 June 1958, the date reference gives Wu-Xu, Wu-Wu and Yi-Mao. His birth hour is unknown. Yi and Mao Wood offer imagery of growth, Wu Fire visibility, and Wu Earth support. Beside his range of expression, the question is how expansion retains an identifiable shape. Wood and Fire cannot prove musical talent, and museum recognition cannot verify a chart. Works, arrangements and production choices provide the relevant evidence. The symbols only invite examination of what connects many materials and what merely makes a project busy.

Let the materials explain one another
Many interests do not automatically produce a coherent work. Prince's records and guitar offer a concrete prompt to examine the relationships among materials. In a project, identify what a sound, image or object expresses and how it supports the others. Richness comes from giving the chosen elements a specific task, rather than including every possible interest. A larger creative range still needs judgment about what belongs together.
