DOCUMENTED LIFE
From a World Cup title to leading a finalist
Völler moved to Bremen in 1982, becoming Bundesliga top scorer and Germany's player of the year, then joined Roma in 1987. He won the World Cup with Germany in 1990 and the Champions League with Marseille in 1993. Team leadership followed playing: he led Germany from 2000 to 2004, reaching the 2002 World Cup final, and became the DFB men's senior-team director in 2023. Museum and federation records retain distinct positions. A player completes runs and shots, a team leader arranges the whole, and a director coordinates conditions beyond the pitch. Connected experience does not make their tasks identical.
TRADITIONAL INTERPRETATION
Different roles, different measures
The reference for 13 April 1960 is 庚子, 庚辰 and 辛未. 辛 metal suggests fine distinctions, 庚 boundaries, earth support and 子 change. What can be carried forward while changed conditions are recognised? A birthday cannot guarantee team leadership.
Metal imagery invites separate assessment of playing results, coaching and management arrangements. His hour is unknown. A World Cup title cannot establish the success of every later task or supply a complete-chart conclusion.
EDITORIAL REFLECTION
Experience transfers; responsibility begins anew
Knowing football does not make every role the same. Beyond playing, a person needs to help others complete actions and undertake work less visible in a score. His experience invites attention to that transition. Experience gains value through renewed use, as well as through being repeatedly remembered.
