DOCUMENTED LIFE
A building, a channel and the stratosphere
Baumgartner made a BASE jump from the Petronas Towers in 1999 and crossed the English Channel using a specially designed carbon-fibre wing in 2003. The project owner's account places those actions along the route to Stratos in 2012. Different heights and distances changed the conditions of completion.
On October 14, 2012 he stepped out of a capsule in the stratosphere and completed a high-speed freefall. Describing the action loosely as a jump from space obscures its actual setting. Viewers easily retain one person leaving a capsule, while that image also depended on equipment, preparation and a team.[1][2]
TRADITIONAL INTERPRETATION
Yi Wood and conditions for completion
The civil-date reference is Ji-You, Wu-Chen, Yi-Chou. Yi Wood offers an image of finding a route; Wu and Ji Earth with Chen and Chou bring supporting conditions into view, while You Metal introduces limits. Beside these projects, the question is how an attention-grabbing goal passes through checks into an executable assignment.
This reading does not turn danger into a destined victory or use one successful event to certify another action as safe. The birth hour is unknown. Three pillars provide neither a technical nor a safety assessment. A historical action and a reader's decision to attempt something are different questions.
EDITORIAL REFLECTION
Put engineering beside courage
Courage easily occupies the centre of such a story without explaining completion by itself. The transferable inquiry concerns equipment, people, verification and conditions for stopping. Recognizing preparation and a team does not diminish the person who stepped out. It makes the work carried by that step more accurately visible.
